About the Role

We are seeking to appoint a compassionate, skilled, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work in The Hub, our specialist provision for pupils with complex needs. This is a full-time, permanent role, ideal for someone with a passion for inclusion and a commitment to enabling every child to flourish.
The successful candidate will support pupils with a range of needs including autism, sensory processing difficulties, communication challenges, and emotional regulation needs. You will work under the direction of the SENCo, with opportunities to shape bespoke provision, use specialist communication tools, and contribute to the creation of a nurturing, structured, and communication-friendly environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with complex needs
- Assist with EHCP targets, personalised learning, and behaviour support
- Use and model strategies such as Makaton, objects of reference, visual timetables, and intensive interaction
- Support transitions, sensory regulation, and routines throughout the day
- Build positive relationships with children, staff, and families
- Contribute to planning, record keeping, and review meetings
- Support with personal care and therapeutic programmes where required

We are looking For someone who:

- Has experience working with children with complex SEND
- Understands child development and inclusive pedagogy
- Can implement structured communication and sensory strategies
- Shows initiative, patience, creativity, and emotional resilience
- Works collaboratively and contributes positively to the team
- Has strong behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
- Has good literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills
- Holds a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Is committed to safeguarding and the school’s Catholic ethos (you do not need to be Catholic)
