The Governors of St Thomas More Catholic School are looking to appoint a Head of Maths to develop the leadership and management of the Maths department of this ‘Good’ school. As a teaching and learning leader you will be a key part of the exciting journey of this department and the school in meeting the current and future needs of our students and to help build upon our successful Ofsted and Diocesan reports in 2019.

The successful applicant will be an inspirational, creative and outstanding teacher with a passion for Maths. They will be committed to their own development and that of their department, and will have designated protected time to support improvements. They will have a track record of achieving excellent results and improving student outcomes. The successful candidate will be passionate about ensuring that the Maths department is able to improve outcomes for all groups of learners in line with other core subjects

 The department follows the EDEXCEL syllabus for GCSE Maths and Sixth Form students study Maths at AS and A2 level.

 The school has a large and successful Sixth Form and Maths is a popular option. Experience of Sixth Form teaching would be an advantage.

 The department is cohesive and supportive and have been externally verified for teaching as good or better.

 The advertised position is as a consequence of the current Head of Department securing a promotion at a neighbouring secondary school.
